Rajarajeshvari is usually applied to the Durga manifestation of Shiva's consort. Like her spouse, she has two aspects: one is light, merciful and benevolent; the other is dark, furious and punishing.

Durga's attributes include various weapons: here she holds in her hands a sword and a discus. Two lions sit facing one another in front of her throne.
